Make Life Your Beach

Make Life Your Beach

A couple years ago I went through a rebrand and went with the motto “Make Life Your Beach”. I never explained why. Of course, it is a cute play on words. It also would have gotten me fired from any major (respectable) firm. And that is the point.

I launched Leetown in 2017 to take control of my career and my life, and to help others do the same. We are all surrounded by people that tell us how to live, what to do, and try to control us. And I was sick of it. I could see that by taking control of my money and my career, I could have better control over my life. Focus on the things that mattered, the people that mattered. And I wanted to help others do the same.

When you have control over your money, you have control over your time, and can say “hell no” to whatever doesn’t fit your values. Whatever that means to you. It sure as shit isn’t my job to tell you what that is supposed to be, but it is your job to figure out what that is, and give the middle finger to everyone that doesn’t respect or support that.

Speaking of middle fingers, that is what we save and invest money for. Not for retirement, but for independence. At a certain point, we have enough saved to replace our income, and can give the middle finger to anyone we want (especially your boss). It isn’t necessarily about not working, but about doing work that we find fulfilling. That may be babysitting your grandkids, volunteering at the animal shelter, or taking a job for money you “don’t need”. Ideally, you find fulfilling work during your career with people that you love. But talking to a lot of you, that doesn’t necessarily happen. And that is why we save.

I am phenomenally lucky. I love what I do, how I do it, and who I do it for (you!). Is every day great? Fuck no. But I get to work with people I love, cheer them on through life, and feel that love reflected back to me. I have created a life I don’t have to escape or “retire” from, and hopefully have many decades of this ahead of me. The best part- I get to choose who I work for, and I don’t work for assholes. Thankfully, none of you fit that description.

We are getting into the beginning of review season, and I look forward to talking with all of my new and existing clients. If we don’t have something set up yet, please click the link at the bottom of this email. If you are not yet a client, feel free to set up a consultation. This will be the last year that I take new clients, and I would love to help you plan to Make Life Your Beach and flip off your boss.

In the meantime, here’s a pic of us making life our beach.
